Week 3: Digital Images
This week I chose to make a banner for my course. It could be displayed either as an advertisement or somewhere on the course homepage to encourage potential students to sign up.
I tried to make an image that matched the colours for the website/course (blue, orange, yellow, white). I darkened the edited background photo in order to provide greater contrast with the white text for easier readability. My goal was to have the textual information be short and easy to understand because my target audience for this course is mainly students who do not speak English as a primary language.
My thought behind the logo is that I wanted it to be a simple graphic depicting something related to writing so that it would be easily recognizable and also simple enough to add to any kind of documentation, course material, etc. without being distracting to the students viewing/reading the material.
When editing the original photo, I cropped it smaller, changed the filter, and added a darker vignette around the edges to draw the viewer's eyes towards the person. Then I added the lightning bolts to highlight the stress and frustration of the student in the picture and also to give the photo a youthful vibe since the course is aimed at students.
The banner matches the course material because the course is designed for students in high-school or university and so I chose a subject that would be one representative of my target audience.

This is my edited photo. I changed the filter to have a more grey base, and I added a vignette, cropped the photo and added the lightning bolts.
